Rhymes & synonyms
Stuck on the end of a line? Select a word and InnerHook suggests rhymes for it, or other words that mean the same. Pick one and it goes straight into the line. Rhymes and synonyms are free: they don't use credits.
Where to find it
Select a word (or a few words on one line) and a small bubble opens above it. Two of its buttons are word tools:
- Find rhymes: the icon of two lines whose ends join.
- Find synonyms: the icon of two arrows.
You can also use the / menu while you type. Its Write ✨ group offers Rhymes for "…" for the last word of the line above, and Synonyms for "…" for the word just before the /.
Step by step
- Double-click a word to select it, for example "ferry" at the end of a line.
- In the bubble, click Find rhymes or Find synonyms. The list says "Finding rhymes…" while it works.
- Click a word in the list.
What happens when you pick a word:
- A synonym replaces the words you selected.
- A rhyme is added after the selected word, with a space before it, so you keep your word and can see both together. Delete the one you don't want.
- With the
/menu's Rhymes for "…", the rhyme is written where your cursor is. This is handy on a fresh line under the one you want to rhyme with.
The line's syllable count updates as soon as the word goes in, so you can see right away if the line still fits.
Each pick is one step you can undo with ⌘ Z (Ctrl+Z on Windows and Linux).
How it works
Rhymes and synonyms use AI (Anthropic's Claude). They don't come from a fixed rhyming dictionary, so the list can include near rhymes and words that suit the song. The tooltips in the / menu say so: "Rhymes for "ferry" use AI (Claude)".
The tools look at the song's language. If the song has an artist profile, they also get a light hint from it: the profile's favourite words, and the words it avoids.
Only the word goes out, along with that language and the profile hint. Your lyrics are never used to train AI models. See the privacy policy.
Tips
- Select only the word you want to rhyme. Spaces at the ends of the selection are ignored, so a sloppy drag still works.
- The word tools work on one line at a time. If your selection covers more than one line, the buttons say "Select words on one line to find synonyms or rhymes".
- No good match? Try a synonym first, then rhyme the new word. "Ferry" might not give you what you need, but "crossing" or "boat" could.
- If you can only view a song that someone shared with you, you can still find rhymes and synonyms. Clicking a word then copies it instead of writing it into the song.
