Public read link
A public link lets anyone read a song's words, without an InnerHook account. Send it to a singer, a session player or your mum. They can read the lyrics, but they can't edit, comment or join the song.
Where to find it
Open the song, press Share, and look for Public link (between Share link and Invite by email). Only the song's owner can make one.
Step by step
- Open the song and press Share.
- Under Public link, press Create link.
- Press Copy link and send it. The address looks like
https://app.innerhook.com/p/….
While the link is on, a small globe shows on the editor's Share button and on the song in your list.
The options
- Show the artist profile's name: adds the song's artist profile name to the page. Off to begin with.
- Show on my profile: lists the song on your public writer page. You only see this while your writer page is public, for a link you made.
What readers see
A calm, dark reading page with:
- the song's title and Lyrics by your account name (never your email address; if your account has no name, no name is shown),
- the artist profile's name, if you chose to show it,
- the lyrics, section by section ("Verse 1", "Chorus 1"…),
- the song's BPM, key and time signature, when they are set.
Readers can press Copy lyrics to copy the words with the section names, or print the page: it prints black on white, without buttons. At the bottom there's a small "Written with InnerHook" and a Report this page link.
They never see comments, versions, the version history, the rest of the song brief, the artist profile's style, or who you write with.
It stays up to date
The page shows the song as it was last saved, so your changes reach it within a few seconds. Anyone with the link sees the words as they are now and later: think of it as publishing.
Turning it off
- Turn off stops the page at once. Anyone who opens the old link sees "This link doesn't work anymore".
- New link gives the song a new address. The old one stops working, and your options stay as they were.
If you delete the song, its public link stops working too. Restoring the song brings the link back, unless you had turned it off.
Search engines
Public read pages ask search engines not to list them. Only people you give the link to will find the page.
Tips
- Want someone to comment or edit instead? Use a share link or an invite.
