Your writer page is a small public page about you as a songwriter: your name, a picture, a few lines about you, the languages and styles you write in, your links and the songs you choose to show. If you like, people can send you requests through it. It's off until you turn it on, and it never shows your email address.

## Where to find it

Open the account menu at the bottom of the rail and choose **Public profile**.

Your page's address is `https://app.innerhook.com/@your-handle`.

## Step by step

1. Open **Public profile**.
2. Under **About you**, choose a **Handle**: 3–30 letters a–z, digits and dashes. It becomes your page's address.
3. Fill in what you want to show: **Name**, a **Picture**, a **Bio**, **Languages you write in**, **Styles** and **Links**.
4. Under **Who sees it**, tick **Public**.
5. Press **Save**.

Press **Preview** to see the page as others will, even while it's off (only you see the preview). Once it's public, **View public page** opens the real thing.

## Choosing your songs

Songs get onto your page through their [public read link](https://innerhook.com/docs/public-link/):

1. Open a song and press **Share**.
2. Under **Public link**, press **Create link** if it's not on yet.
3. Tick **Show on my profile**.

Your page lists each song's title and first lines, with a link to read the whole lyric. The song you changed most recently comes first.

A song leaves your page when you untick **Show on my profile** or turn its public link off. **Show on my profile** is only offered while your page is public, and only for public links you made yourself.

## Requests

With **Requests** on, your page has a form where someone can send you their name, email address and a message. It reaches you as an email to your account's address. When you reply, your reply goes to them, and they don't see your address until you do.

The sender's name, address and message are kept only until the email is delivered.

## Search engines

Your page asks search engines **not** to list it, unless you tick **Let search engines find it**. Without it, people find your page only through the address you give them.

## Turning it off

Untick **Public** and press **Save**. The page stops at once: anyone who opens it sees "This link doesn't work anymore". Your details stay saved, so you can turn it back on later.

### Changing your handle

If you change your handle, the old address stops working right away; it doesn't forward to the new one. The old handle is held for you for 30 days, so nobody else can take it meanwhile and you can change back.

## Tips

> **Tip**
>
> Write your bio the way you'd introduce yourself at a writing camp: what you write, who for, and one thing that makes your songs yours. "Kitchen-table folk songs about small towns and the people who stay."

- Link to the places your music already lives, like a streaming profile or your own site.
- Show three or four finished songs rather than every draft.
