InnerHook has no passwords. You type your email address and get a sign-in link by email. While InnerHook is in closed beta, a new account needs an invite.

## Where to find it

Go to [app.innerhook.com](https://app.innerhook.com). If you are not signed in, you land on the **Sign in** page.

## Ways in during the closed beta

There are three ways to get an account:

- **An invite code.** Someone gave you a code that looks like `XXXX-XXXX-XXXX`, or a link with the code in it. A code can have a limited number of uses or an end date, and some codes work for one email address only.
- **An invite from the waitlist.** Join the waitlist on [innerhook.com](https://innerhook.com/). When your turn comes, you get an email with your invite link. That invite works for that email address only, and the email says until when it works.
- **An invite to a song.** A songwriter shares a song with you, by email or with a share link. Opening it lets you make an account and takes you straight to the song. See [Sharing a song](https://innerhook.com/docs/sharing/).

> **The beta has room for a limited number of people**
>
> New accounts through shared songs are limited during the beta. If the beta is full, the page tells you so and points you to the waitlist. If you already have an account, you can always get in.

Once you have an account, you never need a code again.

## Step by step

1. Open [app.innerhook.com](https://app.innerhook.com) (or your invite link).
2. Type your email address and press **Email me a sign-in link**.
If this is a new account, open **New here? I have an invite code** first and type the code. An invite link fills it in for you.
3. Open the email and the link in it.
4. Press **Continue to the editor**. You are signed in.

The page always says the same thing after step 2, whether or not the address has an account, so nobody can use the form to find out who uses InnerHook.

> **Tip**
>
> You can open the sign-in link in a different browser or on another device than the one you asked from. It takes you to the page you were going to.

## Staying signed in

After you sign in, InnerHook remembers you on that browser, so you don't need a new link every time. If your session ends while a song is open, a banner says **Your session has expired. Sign in again to save your changes.** Press **Sign in again**: the song you have open is saved first.

If you sign in as another person in another tab of the same browser, the older tab stops sending anything and says **You signed in as another user in another tab. Reload to continue as them.** Press **Reload**. If that tab has changes that could not be saved, it asks before reloading, so you can copy your lyrics first.

## Signing out

Open the account menu (your initial at the bottom of the left rail) and choose **Log out**. The song you have open is saved first, and the copies of your songs kept on this device are removed.

## Limits

> **Limits**
>
> - A sign-in link works **once**, for **15 minutes**. After that, ask for a new one.
> - If you ask for many links in a row, you'll be asked to wait a few minutes.
> - An invite to a song sent by email works for **14 days**, and only for the address it was sent to.

## Didn't get the email?

- Check your spam or promotions folder.
- Make sure you typed the address you were invited with.
- Wait a minute: the email is sent within seconds, but some mail services are slower.
- A link that has expired or was used already shows **This link does not work any more**. Press **Get a new link**.
